Welcome to Authentic Living with Linda
I’m Linda Codlin

Welcome, My Friends.

This week has seen me back in my office, I’m not sure when the mess it up, elves arrive, but it doesn’t seem to take much effort to create a mess of papers and books everywhere.
I am still in the process of creating my vision board for this year. Deciding on the personality traits I want to include in my life, the experiences I want to have, and who I want to share them with. My vision board sits directly behind my computer so I look at it often.

At the moment it has the slogan in big bold purple letters written on white paper, Filter everything through One infinite source of supply.
And under this in baby blue ink is written Everytime we make a purchase, we are buying a STORY, an IDENTITY, and a FEELING!

These are the reminders I need to keep my energy in the feeling state of abundance.

Today I want to talk about Making Do.

My life was so filled with making do, I didn’t even realise I was making do.
What is making do?
For me in my life, it looksed like overly frugal living.
The energy was always not enoughness, scarcity and lack.
The reason I made our clothes was because we didn’t have the funds to purchase them, not because of the creative outlet that making a garment out of a picece of fabric inspires.
The reason I preserved fruit in the summer was to feed my family in the winter. Noble as this seems it also came from the feeling of fear that I wouldn’t have enough to feed my family if I didn’t bottle while the fruit was cheap. It never occurred to me that I could do the same activity from a different attitude or energy and it would have had a completely different feeling. The result would have been the same. But the energy would have been much more pleasant.
Almost everything I did had the emotion of duty, of having to, and if I didn’t have what I wanted then I’d have to make do with something else.
Can you hear and feel the victim mentality wrapped in this energy.
I didn’t believe I had the power to make a change.
Even when I went to work and was earning a fabulous wage, this attitude and energy permeated everything I thought and did.

Today I want to talk about making do. Making do is not creating, it has a flat energy to it.
Making do, has the feeling of not being what I really want, ‘sigh’ but it’s all I can afford or worse it’s a personal belief that this is all I deserve.

I want to give you the gift of a new way of thinking.
Even if your situation doesn’t change, you can flip your thinking.

Have a look at your raw materials. What do you have at hand?
When I was making our clothes, my raw materials were, the sewing machine, thread, material, a pattern and time. (And ability)
I could have appreciated having these raw materials.
Ask yourself with your raw materials , ‘how can I create the feeling I want to have about this now?’
With the sewing I could have created the feeling of providing for our family, I could have felt great about making something out of next to nothing.

What is the feeling you want in your life?
Abundance maybe, or it might be the feeling of being wealthy, of being happy,or maybe you want to feel the joy of satisfaction.

What does each of these feel like for you?
Do a word study to see what the dictionary meaning is, then look for similar words that have the same meaning.
This builds a place for your thoughts to start from. A thought needs a framework to begin from.

Curate the feeling of abundance.
Curate the feeling of wealth.
Curate the feeling of happiness.
To curate is to dothings on purpose with intent. Add things into your life that give the feelings of what you want. It also means to remove things that don’t feel the way you want.

To curate abundance you could add the habit of being grateful for what you already have. No matter how little it may seem. You have it, and therefore you are abundant. On the other side if you have things in your environment that make you feel broke, or poor, decide how you can dress them up or pass them on.

We always have an energetic choice to make.

Questions to ask of yourself.
Using what is in front of me…
How do I create beauty?
Can I rearrange the way something is displayed? Maybe throw a duvet over the couch or chair in a colour you love.
How can I turn this into something else?
Can I put this item with something else that is unrelated to give a different feeling?
How do I want my space to look and feel, what can I add to create this feeling, what can I remove to give the feeling I want?

You get to create, to transform, to experiment with the items you already have.
You get to play, have fun, mess up and start again.

Making do is an attitude.
If it is not creating, abundant high vibration, or useful you get to make the difference with the power of your creativity.
Creating with what you have is also an attitude.
It’s using inspiration, creative energy.

Until next time.
Stop making do, and start creating. Curate the feeling you want, and then enjoy it.

I’ve found it is one of the fastest ways to change what you have, your attitude makes the difference.
