Today I read a quote that went something like…
Success is not final
Failure is not fatal
It is having the courage to continue to try again that counts.
Think about that for a minute, success is not final, how many times are we aiming for success.
We have this idea of what success looks like, and we are aiming for that.
I’m not saying that success is not a good thing to aim for, but It is not the final destination.
Once you have achieved your goal, or the feeling you were looking for, what then.
Success is not final, there’s always another something to aim for, always another something to be working your way towards.
for me the best form of success is being the best human being that I can be.
Failure is not fatal, to me in my history, failure was the next thing to being fatal.
it’s like I couldn’t do anything for the fear of getting it wrong, for the fear of the humiliation.
And that’s where perfectionism became one of my limiting beliefs.
I held the belief that I had to be perfect, that is I didn’t do it perfectly it wasn’t worth doing at all.
I was afraid that I would be laughed at, or I would be humiliated. I didn’t know that the pathway to success was paved with thousands and thousands of little failures and sometimes big humongous, failures. By failing forward, we begin to learn what doesn’t work and learn what does work.
Often we don’t start to do something unless we can do it perfectly. There is no better time to begin on the road to your goal and what you want to achieve than right now, this very second.
You may not feel ready, and it might be overwhelming, but the best time to start is right now. Today.
It’s having the courage to take the first step when you don’t actually know where it is going to take you.
You have an idea of where you’re going, you have an idea of the way it’s going to look.
Until you start moving towards what you are aiming at you don’t know what it’s going to take to get there.
Often we won’t start because we don’t all the questions and answers lined up in a row, for us to know we are actually going to achieve what we want to achieve.
Perfection is an illusion. Perfection is an illusion.
There is no such thing as perfection.
you can can a perfect moment, a snap shot of time. There is no perfection, no perfection in the way you look, no perfection in the way you live.
There is no perfection in the things that you own. Everything is changeable, everything is fluid.
By trying to have a perfect life we are actually short changing ourselves. It’s in the experience, in the change in the differences, that actually make our life fulfilling and satisfying.
Perfection is not success, because perfection is not attainable, and it’s not sustainable, and it’s not supposed to be.
you can look the best that you can be, you can work towards the best human being that you can be. But you’ll never be perfect, (Sorry about that.)
You’ll never be exactly as you want to be, there is always something else, and somebody else in your life that creates a vacuum, that creates drama.
When we strive for perfection, rather than improvement, we tie ourselves down to ways of being and ways of thinking that may no longer serve us.
We become trapped in that moment of time. If you are always trying to recreate that spot of perfection, that you felt that you had.
Then you are missing out on the actual joys of living today.
There is perfection in the day to day living, but you can’t capture it.
It’s one of those illusions, it like smoke, you can’t quite hold onto it. You know that it’s there, and you know that you’re working towards it, and then you may have that feeling of aah, done it. Then its gone.
That’s the illusion of perfection.
I have found in my life that it is better for me to strive for improvement.
Am I doing better today than I did yesterday?
Am I doing better at being a human being who feels all her emotions?
Who allows other people to feel all their emotions?
To me that is success.
Success is not final, because emotions are one of those things that bubble away and come and hit you on the backside, if you’re not looking.
Failure in not final, When we pick ourselves up from a failure, or something that didn’t quite go the way that we thought.
There is opportunity for us to learn, there is opportunity for us to grow.
We won’t necessarily die because we have failed, we may feel embarrassed, we may feel ashamed, we may feel like we’re being laughed at, but at the end of the day, they are just emotions, they are thoughts, they are the way you are thinking about the situation that you are in.
so, success is not final, failure is not fatal, and its having the courage to continue to try again that counts.
So continue to try, keep moving forward. And keep finding the satisfaction in living your life today. Have a fabulous day my friends. Until next time… Live your best life, Know yourself and live your life authentically.
