Welcome to Authentic Living with Linda
I’m Linda Codlin
Welcome, My Friends.
Are you watching the news, listening to the radio, or finding all the latest updates on social media?
How much of this content is doom and gloom?
How do you feel when you listen or watch these snippets of information?
All this information has an energy attached to it.
We may not be aware of how we feel or how these snippets of doom, sorrow or pending financial hardship impacts our body, however it does.
The more we encase ourselves with the energy that everything is out to get us, that there is no good thing in the world, these beliefs are like the water of the shower that washes over us, some of it sticks, even if we strive to remove it with more positive messages, our body holds the fear, the feeling of being screwed over, that nothing we do makes a difference.
I want to say, everything you do makes a difference.
The pendulum swings both ways, your actions make a difference for the wellbeing of yourself and others, or they can have the opposite effect, creating more tension, stress, or overwhelm for yourself and others.
You have a choice how your energy impacts the world you live in.
The media you consume also has an energy impact. I was once told that sound never stops, that the sound waves of music, of our voices continue as vibrations into the universe. I haven’t fact checked this, but imagine if that was so, all our devices produce sound waves, electromagnetic waves, and if these don’t cease, what are we doing to our body’s, and our environment. (Linda’s thought for the day, just to push the boundary a little.)

Today I wanted to cover a few of the top money limiting beliefs. As you read through these items I want you to notice which ones you resonate with.
Please do not use these as weapons to beat up on yourself, these are the doorways to greater understanding of yourself.
By knowing what thought loops you run, about and around money, you will empower yourself to shift them, and then you can move into your authentic life with more ease.
Okay, let’s step through the doorway of abundance and financial success.
You are worthy of abundance and success, if you are feeling that you don’t have it yet, one or more of these beliefs might be blocking your path forward.
- Money is the root of all evil.
You may believe that having money inherently makes you a bad person. Why would you want something that you perceive would make you a bad person? - Rich people are greedy and dishonest.
You may believe that having or gaining wealth is done unethically, that you will become an unscrupulous personality. Why would you want to put your time and energy into gaining something that you believe would make you become unethical. - I don’t deserve to be wealthy.
You may be feeling unworthy of financial success and abundance. - There’s never enough money.
Living with a mindset of scarcity, believing that there is not enough of everything to go around. This mindset can create hoarding tendencies. - Money can’t buy happiness.
Downplaying the positive aspects that financial stability can have on your physical and mental wellbeing. Why would you not want to have the best of what can positively impact your life and wellbeing? - I’m not good with money.
You may have the belief that your financial management skills are not sufficient and that learning these skills are too difficult. What would be the number one skill you would want to master with your money? Start here. - You have to work extremely hard to make money.
This belief has you thinking that creating wealth only comes from relentless effort and struggle. What if making money was easy? What if you used your strengths to create wealth instead of struggling and striving to get by? - I will never be able to save enough.
You maybe feeling that financial security is unattainable for you, no matter what you do. This is actually a self-belief issue. Pay yourself first, even if it is one dollar a week, this breaks this mindset. - I’m not smart enough to be rich.
Stop doubting your intellectual abilities to achieve financial success, you can learn new ways of being around money, pick one topic to study, learn, then put into action what you are learning, move slowly if you must, and you will see you are smart enough to handle the money you have, and in turn to become rich. - Making money is a struggle.
This belief has you believing that earning money has to be difficult and challenging. What if you could believe making money was easy, that struggling to make money is the hard way to go about creating wealth? - You have to be lucky to be wealthy.
This belief takes being wealthy out of your hands and puts it into some unknown place. Financial success is within your control, you can figure out how to become wealthy. This belief takes away your power to make your financial dreams your reality. - It’s selfish to want a lot of money.
Feeling guilt or shame for desiring financial abundance will not help those who do not have money. How can you give to others if you don’t have first? - I can’t manage money well.
The hidden belief behind this is “I don’t have the self-control to stop spending my money.” Skills for handling money can be learned, often it is the emotional drivers that stop us from following through. - I will lose friends if I become wealthy.
This belief is based in the fear that you gaining financial success will alienate you from your social circle. Why not bring your social circle with you on your wealth journey? - I’ll never get out of debt.
You maybe feeling like the debt you are in is never-ending, or that you will have to go without to eliminate debt. There are many ways that you can remove your debt, one pay-check at a time. Firstly get to know your numbers, be honest with your debt, find all your bills, creditcard statements etc, actually coming face to face with your numbers can give you a sense of this is do-able. Seek advice, debt is temporary if you choose to make it so. - Investing is far too risky for me.
This belief prevents you from learning how to invest, and where the wisest investments are all because you are afraid you will lose your money. Start with getting know the types of investments, read and study then begin with a small amount that you’re not too fearful of losing. - I have to sacrifice my health/relationships to make money.
You may be feeling like you have no choice but to compromise other areas of your life to make money. What if you could have your health and your relationships and make a lot of money? This belief seems to border on the martyrdom syndrome, of your having to give up so much to make a living. - Financial success is only for others, not for me.
You believe you are not worthy of being successful, that people with certain skills, abilities, backgrounds, and money sense can be financially successful. The thing is you are worthy of the best life has to offer, including financial success. Shifting your belief around your worth will empower you to greater success. - Money changes people for the worse.
You believe that having money will somehow fundamentally change who you are for the worst. Money is a tool, money will bring to the surface the hidden beliefs and character traits that are already within us, if we are greedy without money, money will put a spotlight on that trait within us. We get to decide who we are and how we will use the money we have, for better or worse. - I’m too old to improve my financial situation.
You believe that it’s too late for you to make a difference in your financial situation. The only time it’s too late is tomorrow, tomorrow never comes. While you have an active brain, and today, you can make a difference for your future financial situation by the decisions you make now.
Which of these limiting beliefs do you resonate with?
Identifying and addressing these limiting beliefs is vital for developing a healthier relationship with your money.
In my next post I will cover a few ways to encompass a balanced, mindful and proactive approach to managing your finances. Some of which we’ve covered in the last few posts.
Until next time, go through this list and note the beliefs that stand out for you.
Let me know in the comments if you want me to write a post about any particular limiting belief.
