Welcome to Authentic Living with Linda
I’m Linda Codlin

Welcome, My Friends.

I’ve been thinking a bit about femininity and what this means or looks like.

Femininity has so many definitions and nuances, it is a wonder women manage to be women.
I’ll run through a few definitions of femininity as examples of what I mean.
a) Qualities or attributes regarded as characteristic of women or girls.
b) The quality or nature of the female sex: the quality, state or degree of being feminine or womanly.
c) Femininity is a socializing ideology that defines and organizes material ways of life, particularly practices related to gender and sexual relationships.
d) A summary term, contrasted with masculinity, for the distinctive ways of acting and feeling on the part of women.

What exactly are these qualities, attributes and characteristics?
These are open to interpretation, I want to challenge you to investigate your version of the meaning of femininity.

Classic examples of femininity.
a. Long flowing hair has been traditionally linked with femininity.
b. Florals and lace have been regarded as a sign of femininity and delicacy.
c. Speaking with a soft voice and gentle mannerisms indicate feminine attritubes abound.
d. Women and girls are encouraged to express their femininity through their clothes and appearance.
e. Women and girls are expected to be more emotionally open, and therefore more vulnerable.
f. Women are to not to be trusted by men, because they can be distracting from ‘productive’ work.
g. Femininity presumes that women are unintelligent and therefore powerless to express any valuable thoughts.
h. Motherhood and femininity are linked to each other as to be synonimous.
i. Women and girls are ‘supposed’ to be happy, lighthearted and flirty to be feminine.
j. Delicacy, indecision and hysterica are linked with being feminine.
k. The manner of handwriting, and conveying ideas, and concepts are considered to be feminine when artistically designed.
l. Older views of femininity focused on the fact that a woman needed a man to experience life and to achieve her ambitions.
m. Femininity empowers women to seduce and manipulate to get their own way.
n. The feminine roll of homekeeping, and home making. (Being barefoot and pregnant) was the woman’s main way of being.
o. Femininity and sexuality are linked with each other. (The subliminal message is that women are weaker than men and therefore they can be coerced and dominated.)
p. Woman are only for bearing children and raising them, careers are place holders until these roles can be fulfilled.
q. Femininity is deemed to be male a construct of who a woman ought to be. (Meek, mild, demure, and modest.)

Did you find any of these opinions resonate with your experience of being a woman, and feeling feminine?

Now I want to share my definition of femininity.

The essence of femininity is to absolutely love being a woman.

Do you adore yourself as a woman?

The greatest form of feminine power is to have power over oneself.

When a woman walks in the assurance and confidence of who she is as a woman, she is powerful, she holds the cards of allure, of charm and beauty close to her heart.
Assurance, and confidence in who you are, is so attractive.
You are not striving to please anyone else.
You are not manipulating people or situations for your gain. You are being your true authentic self, in all your ways of being.
Confidence that comes from a true sense that who you are is strong.

A woman who loves herself without conditions is a woman who can not easily be swayed.
Imagine loving yourself for getting on with achieving your goals, and not waiting for the approval of those around you.
Imagine loving your body, no matter what shape she is. She is the only body you have, taking care of her in a way that makes you feel good is loving yourself.
Sometimes this means letting others know your body is not open to be discussed and put down.
Imagine loving yourself for following what you choose for your life, this could be a career, this could be marriage and motherhood, this could be singledom with peace and harmony.
You might be a warrior queen, who loves to go into battle for what you consider to be good causes, loving yourself enough to go after what you deem to be unjust is loving yourself without condition.
You might be a beauty queen, who loves to create beautiful spaces, this might show up as your being an interior designer, or an engineer. However you create beauty, is living your life without conditions.

When you know yourself and your passions, you lead your life from your authentic place.
A confident and self-assured woman in her feminine essence doesn’t shy away from trying out new things, she is willing to explore all of her personality and all of her talents.
Especially those other people label as non-feminine.

When you know yourself, you gain strength from yourself, you know your purpose and you are not afraid to share yourself with others, you are willing to share their pain, their laughter and their growth, knowing it is not going to diminish your life, it will in fact add deeper dimensions to your life.

A feminine woman accentuates her strengths and creates a safe-haven for herself to enable her to uplevel her weaknesses, and build her trust and confidence in her abilities, and the love she carries with her always.
A feminine woman knows her strengths and weaknesses, she doesn’t hesitate to ask for help or outsource tasks and activities when it suits her to do so.
A feminine woman speaks up, for herself and for others. She is bold, she trusts herself, she weighs her words and actions.
She will not back down when she has a reason to stand up, and speak up.

A feminine woman lives her life intuitively. She is guided with an open relationship to her authentic inner spirit.
She feels and trusts her heart, she listens and follows her gut instincts, she lives with a resolve to be true to her true self.
As she learns to trust and know her intuitive guide, she builds a strong and unbreakable link between her body and her intuitive guide, when her guide nudges she acts trusting that only the best is in store for her.

As a feminine woman you are free to express your true feelings with abandon, you are at peace with being real with who you are and the emotions and feeling you have.
You are real with yourself.

When life hurts, you allow it to hurt. When life feels hard, you acknowledge the struggle, you own your part of it.

As a feminine woman you choose not to play games, the martyr game, the guilt game, the shame and blame game, or the victim game.

As a feminine woman you take full responsibility for your life, this is where your strength comes from, this is where your power comes from, and this is where your confidence comes from.
You own you life and every part of it, you accept your history, you know that where you are today is in direct relation to the decisions you have made up till today, and you also know that the decisions you make today will show up in your future, so you choose the best decisions possible, with the information you have at hand, and with where you are on your journey, never allowing regret to dimininsh your power to be a fully alive and thriving feminine woman.

As a feminine woman you have the ability to be financially savvy, earning an income that will set you up for the life you want to be living.
As a feminine woman you know you have what it takes to generate wealth, you are willing to learn how to create financial streams of income, with joy, peace and harmony.
Money isn’t a gender issue, it’s a belief issue.

Feminine women are always on the lookout for beliefs that are keeping her playing smaller than she wants to play. When she finds them, she uses her safe-haven to empower her to release the beliefs that no longer serve her.

As a feminine woman you have nothing to prove to anyone.
You get to live your life your way. You can decide what you want, and make it happen.
When you are willing to lay aside the distractions that are keeping you stuck, and embrace the new aspects that must become part of your life you can make whatever you want a part of your reality.

I want you to know that your feminine essence goes with you everywhere you go, it permeates the atmosphere around you, it emanates through you.
It is not so much what you wear, or how you look. Although these are important, you are so much more than surface looks.
You have a confidence in yourself, you believe in who you are at your core, you know you are worthy, you believe in who you can be.

A feminine woman walking in her feminine essence is powerful.

Are you walking in your feminine essence?

Until next time: Contemplate what femininity means to you. Does your definition build you up and make you feel empowered?
If not, rephrase it until it does. You get to decide what femininity means to you, and then you get to live your definition.
