Self-belief and Money

Do you want more from the money you have?
Do you know how much you have and where you want it to go?
Do you hide from your money?
The way you think affects your money?

Remember: Money will always match your self-belief and mindset.

Welcome to Authentic Living with Linda
I’m Linda Codlin

Welcome, My Friends.

I have a question for you?
This is a question I have been asking myself recently.
The month of April has been about my financial security.
Following my coaching philosophy, getting in touch with where I am financially is the first step.

As with everything we do, we need to identify what we want.
I already know what I want financially, for me it is creating the environment for me to grow into a woman who has what she wants.
This basically boils down to self belief and self imposed limitations. (That don’t feel self-imposed.)

When we don’t have the world view of being worthy of not carrying any debt, yet we are striving and working hard to get out of debt.
Subconsciously we are working against ourselves.
On the inside of carrying debt is a belief, maybe it’s a belief that you can’t be out of debt because everyone in your family has always carried debt.
Maybe you feel guilty if you have a positive bank balance.
Maybe you feel like you are worthy of second-hand goods, and to purchase new with cash is wasteful.
Maybe you have a background story that if you can’t have an item now, when you want it, you will never get it.
I want to suggest that these are not money issues, money or debt is the visible symptom.
The underlying belief is what is really stopping the long term satisfaction of a life with a healthy relationship with money.

What do you want for your finances?
Do you want to become financially free? Do you want to build an emergency fund? Do you want to purchase a new car, house, carpet or some other big ticket item?
Write what you want in list form?
I want to have … It will take an invest of $…. To achieve.

Listen to your heart for what you really want. Some times we mistakenly take on someone else’s desire.
Maybe purchasing a home is your parents ideal of financial security, and yours might be investing in the stock-market. Always follow your own heart.
When you have written YOUR list, I want you to listen to your brain. I can guarantee that it is telling you all the reasons why you can’t have the thing.

Everything after the word BUT, is the reason you believe you are unable to attain your goal.
These after but’s are where the gold sits, as you smash these disbeliefs, and reorder your life so you are authentically yourself, you will find yourself moving forward and not looking back.

You after but’s are usually internal limitations that we have taken on from people or society around us.
To gain the financial freedom that you can have, questioning your thoughts around money, wealth, spending and saving is important.
So is finding the feeling in your body, how do you feel in your body when you are carrying debt? How do you feel in your body when you talk about money?
What is the feeling you have when you look at your bank account? Do you dread looking at your balance? Do you celebrate with a little happy dance within you when you login to your accounts? Do you bless your money as you release it to do your bidding?
For example at the supermarket, do you grumble about the price of the goods on the shelf or do you count your blessings that you have goods on the shelf for you to purchase, and that you have the money to pay for them.

Money, both the lack and the abundance is a heart attitude.
Remember where our attention goes, our energy flows, and how we send that energy out is how it comes back to us.
If we send our money out into the world from the energy of scarity or lack, that is what comes back to us.
Have you ever cursed your money? Feeling that you don’t have enough, and then the car breaks down, now you have even less.
Or maybe you get a windfall, a payrise, or a bonus and before you can use it how you want, something comes up and the money trickes into that thing.

I have lived like this, it is so frustrating. I felt like I couldn’t get ahead ever.
How I moved out of the debt trap was to begin with the goal to be debt free, my focus was on removing debt, which over time I discovered was still coming from an attitude of scarity and lack, debt was the focus.
As I learned to focus on the abundance that I had, I began to see the tangible changes in my finances.
The next thing I did was to set up a money plan, or budget. (This word feels like a restriction to me, to others it is the tool for their freedom.)
This can take a bit of time to get all the numbers in one place, remember numbers don’t mean anything until we give them meaning.
The meaning you give to your numbers is part of the gold that reveals how you really feel about your financial situation.

I began tracking all my spending, actually we had a budget advisory person help us by taking control of our incoming and outgoing expenses.
This person was the interrupt we needed to change the way we handled the money side of budgeting, the mindset side is still a work in progress all these years later.
Sometimes it is wise to seek help, to find someone who is trained to create the space between earning and spending, while teaching and training you how to physically manage your money.
We still have an automated plan for our usual household accounts.
I still track our incoming and outgoings, now I bless what we have, and I am grateful for the services and lifestyle that our income gives us.

Your relationship with money is more than what you earn and what you spend or invest.
Your relationship with money is about your energy, your vibration and your intentions.
You can have the relationship with abundance, wealth and money that you want.
It all begins with honesty about where you are, what your but’s are, and in mining the gold from these feeling and thought gems.

Until next time, Write your financial goal list, note your but’s beside them.
If you want help to create a plan to move from debt to freedom, seek out professionals trained in finance, also seek out a coach who can help you to adjust your belief system around wealth, abundance and money.

xoxox Linda.
