What motivates you to make the time?

“You’ve got to get up every morning with determination if you’re going to go to bed with satisfaction.”

— George Lorimer

Hello, My Friends

My the weeks are flying by, we have moved into Day Light Savings time, and now the evenings are getting lighter, and the mornings darker.
We have the promise of summer, and the left overs of winter, some days are beautifully hot and sunny, and others are cold, wet and miserable.
The great thing about a day, is that we can trust we will have another tomorrow, and it will be a surprise, each day is as individual as you and I are.

What do you do with your time?
We have talked about managing your time already.
Today I want to link managing the activities that take time to motivation.

Often we don’t do what we know we ought to do.
And, we use the excuse of “I don’t have time.”
If this is you, I want to call you out.
We all have time to do what is important to us.

When you are sitting on the fence, about doing what you know you ought to do, and doing something else, or nothing else.
Ask yourself this question.
Is there enough motivation, for me to make the time available?

If your desire is big enough, if your desire is important enough to you, you will make the time available.

However if your fear is bigger than your goal, you will stay where you are.
Have you wanted to shed those extra kilo’s that snuck up on you?
But, instead of cutting back a little on the sweet ‘treats’ you talk yourself into needing them more, to feel better.
Or maybe you have promised yourself that you will exercise three times a week, and the scheduled time arrives, but you find you are too busy doing something else.
Or maybe you have signed up for a course, and you keep procrastinating on putting in the time required to do the work and the course projects.
Or maybe you are telling yourself you are too tired to take care of your body, your skin, your finances, whatever your ‘want’ is.

The answer to these dilemmas, is to find a bigger why.
When your why is big enough, it will have you feeling more excited, than terrified, and it will give you motivation and energy to book the time and follow through.
The feeling of following through on something you have decided is important to put in your calendar, will stock the fire of motivation, which increases the energy you have towards getting what you want.

Success breeds success, we hear this quote all the time.
On the flip slide, disappointment breeds disappointment. The more you disappoint yourself, the more you expect to disappoint yourself. It turns into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Success also gives you internal encouragement to continue, every step you take towards the goal you want, every time you look at the reason why you want your goal, gives you energy, gives you courage, gives you confidence.
And when you are energized, when you are courageous, when you are confident, you are willing to try new and uncertain things, you are willing to listen to the wisdom of wise coaches, and mentors, or not listen to the nay sayers and doubters.

When you tell me you don’t have time to follow your dream, I hear you telling me you don’t have enough motivation, which I interpret to mean your reason for wanting your dream isn’t big enough yet.
You haven’t tapped into the feeling you will get from the achieving of your dream.
You haven’t figured out how achieving your dream will have a positive impact on those you love.
You haven’t gone into your future to see yourself having achieved what you want, and how that will feel.

So your challenge for this week is to identify your dream. Then work out what will motivate you to make time to make it a reality. Ask yourself why do I want this dream? Keep asking why, until you get to the real nitty gritty of why you really want this dream. You don’t have to share this with anyone, it’s really handy to know for yourself.
