Hello, My Friends
Welcome to a brand new month.
This month we’re going to be talking about discipline.
Self-discipline, is an art and we can learn it.
As is normal for the first day, we will have a look at the definition of discipline through the lens that I want to look at it this month.
What is discipline?
The Webster dictionary states
- a) control gained by enforcing obedience or order.
b) orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behaviour.
c) Self-control: to train, develop by instruction and exercise.
- punishment -penalize for the sake of enforcing obedience and perfecting moral character.
- training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character.
- a field of study
- A rule or system of rules governing conduct or activity
If, like me you grew up in a household who had a religious back ground, you will be familiar with the ‘negative’ side of restrictive discipline.
This month I want us to look at discipline from the eyes of love.
Most of us will have felt the hand of discipline and consequence in our lives from a fearful perspective.
I want to introduce you to discipline as a form of self love.
The definitions above all have the feeling of being punitive, and after the fact.
You do something and then you are disciplined.
This creates fear of trying new things.
Each day I’m going to give us a simple challenge to build discipline in our lives.
Today’s challenge is to make your bed as you get out of it.
Until tomorrow, think about what discipline means to you, does it feel positive or negative.
As a life coach it is my intention to help you to live your best life, every day.
